SOP 125: Create an Automated Meta Ads Report
Create an automated report for your campaigns that you can share with your clients or team.

🚀 Goal: Create an automated report for your campaigns that you can share with your clients or team.
🤞 Ideal Outcome: Your team or your client will get a report containing the latest campaign data and results to analyze ad performance.
🤔 Why this is important: An automated report will help you and your team analyze (and optimize) the current ad performance effectively.
🧐 Where this is done Meta Business Suite and Ads Manager.
🗓️ When this is done: After you have launched your campaign and have enough data on the reporting period.
👨 Who does this: The person responsible for media buying or analytics.
__⚠️Prerequisites or requirements: __You need to have access to the Meta Business Suite of the ad account for which you’re sending the report. If you don’t have access, ask your client or your colleague to grant you access following SOP 062 (web version): Granting access to Meta Business Suite.

Create your report within Meta Ads Manager
01▸ Log in to your Meta Ads Manager account
02▸ Open the sidebar and click “Ads Reporting”.
03▸ Click the green button or “+ Create report”.
04▸ Select the “Pivot Table” layout and click "Continue". You can change this layout any time in the future.
05▸ At the top of the page, hover over “Untitled Report” and click on it to write a new report name. For example:
“Weekly Report”
“Ad campaign Report Summary”
“Business_Name campaign report”
06▸ Click "Customize" on your right-hand side to reveal the “Customize Pivot Table” and select “Campaign Name” and “Ad Set Name”.
This will give you the ad campaign data grouped by “Campaign Name” and “Ad Set Name”.
Alternatively, you can select one or more of the groupings available.
07▸ Next, click “Metrics” and select the metrics you’d like to see in this report.
You can select whichever or any combination of metrics you want. A good starting point would include:
Once you’ve selected the metrics, your report will show in real time.
08▸ Next, update the date for the report. If this is a monthly report, select “This month”. Otherwise, select the period you want to report and click "Update".
09▸ Lastly, remember to save your report to share it with others later.
Sharing your report
Important: Before you begin, you should have administrator, advertiser, or analyst access to the ad account associated with the report. If you don’t have access, ask your client or your colleague to grant you access following SOP 062 (web version): Granting access to Meta Business Suite.
01▸ Log in to your Meta Ads Manager reporting dashboard.
02▸ Select the report that you want to share.
03▸ In the top right corner, click on the "Share" button.
04▸ This will reveal two methods to share the report. You can copy the preferred report link and manually share it with those who already have access to the business account or others.
- a. Copy this report link to share with people who already have access to this business account. This report will be made editable to those you share.
- b. If you want to share it with others, turn on the toggle to copy this report link. This report will not be editable to those you share.
- c. Set the link expiration date and time. Your link will automatically expire in 30 days. You can adjust the expiration date to be between 1 and 40 days.
Scheduling an automated report

The latest update as of April 2025: The “Schedule Export” feature is no longer available in Ads Reporting and is now only accessible at the Campaign level in Ads Manager.
