Add license or certification details

This milestone walks you through adding a professional certification to your LinkedIn profile. Following these steps ensures the certification shows with the correct issuer logo, accurate dates, and (when available) a working public verification link — boosting visibility and credibility.

01▸ Sign in to linkedin.com and go to "Me" → "View Profile"

02▸ If "Licenses & Certifications" is missing, click "Add profile section" → "Recommended" (or "Core") → "Add licenses & certifications"

03▸ Click the "+" on "Licenses & Certifications"

04▸ In "Add license or certification", fill in fields and click "Save"

  • Enter the exact official certification name.
  • For Issuing organization, type and select the issuer’s official LinkedIn Page so the logo shows.
  • Add the Issue date (month and year).
  • If the certification has an expiration, set its month/year.
  • Include Credential ID only if given.
  • Paste a Credential URL if it’s public and accessible without login.
  • Add Skills associated with this certification.
  • Add images or supporting documents for this certification.

05▸ Confirm the certification shows under "Licenses & Certifications" with the correct issuer logo and dates

Open your profile and scroll to "Licenses & Certifications". You should see the certification with the issuer’s logo, proper dates, and a clickable link if you added one.

[Optional] Share your new certification

Once your certification is added to your profile, you can make it more visible by sharing an announcement with your network. This helps highlight your achievement, build credibility, and gives colleagues or recruiters a direct link to the credential.

01▸ Make a post announcing your certification

Click "Start a post". Write a short note about your achievement, @mention the issuer, add the Credential URL, and click "Post". You should see the new post appear on your feed and shared with your network.
