Adding the Facebook pixel to your Shopify store

01▸ Log in to Facebook.

02▸ Go to your Facebook Business Manager.

03▸ Make sure to select the right Business Manager account from the dropdown:

04▸ Next, click “All tools” on the sidebar and then "Events Manager".

05▸ If a pixel has already been created but hasn’t been installed yet, you will be prompted to connect data. Click on the below button to proceed or go to the homepage and click "+ Connect Data Sources".

06▸ Next, select "Web" and then "Next".

07▸ Key your preferred dataset name and then click "Create".

08▸ You will be presented with three options to connect your pixel to your website. We recommend “Set up with a partner integration”.

09▸ Click “Shopify”.

10▸ Click "Go to Shopify".

11▸ On a new browser tab, open your Shopify admin panel and click the arrow sign (>) next to “Sales channels”.

12▸ Next, select "Facebook & Instagram" in the dropdown menu.

13▸ Click "Install" twice.

14▸ Next, click “Get started".

15▸ ”

16▸ Next, you’ll need to connect to your business Facebook account.

Log into Facebook using the same account that has access to the Business Manager account with the pixel you just created.

If you have access to more than one Business Manager account, you’ll see a list of them. Select the account you’re currently working on and click “Connect”.

17▸ Next, under "Data Sharing," we recommend selecting the "Enhanced" option to keep your customer activity data up-to-date. Click "Connect" after to ensure a seamless connection with the pixel you recently linked to Meta and Shopify.

In general, the higher the access level you provide, the more information you’ll share about your customers with Facebook, which will enable them to do better tracking and targeting. You can click here to learn more about data sharing levels. Whichever option you choose, make sure that your privacy policy is clear about the data you’re collecting and sharing about your users.

18▸ Next, agree to the terms and conditions by ticking the box below:

19▸ Finally, click "Submit for review". This usually takes 1 to 2 minutes.

20▸ Go back to your tab on Facebook Events Manager and click “Next”.

21▸ Enter your Shopify store’s URL below and click “Send Test Traffic”.

The red dot with the “No activity yet” label will turn green and will show an “Active” status:

Note: Usually, it should take less than a minute to see the "Active" status on your pixel. If for some reason you’re not seeing it after that amount of time, try opening an Incognito Window on your browser (Ctrl+Shift+N for Windows, or ⌘+Shift+N for Mac) and open your Shopify’s store URL. Then go back to Facebook and check if the status is now “Active”. If so, it could be that your browser or an extension you have is blocking Facebook tracking scripts.

22▸ Click “Next” and you’ll see a success message. You can now click “Finish” and you're done!

That’s it! You now have the Facebook Pixel on your Shopify Store! Well done!

QA-ing the Facebook pixel

01▸ Open your website using Chrome.

02▸ Click on the Facebook Pixel Helper Chrome extension.

You should be able to see your Facebook pixel installed. The extension should be able to find at least one pixel and it should match the Pixel ID on your Facebook Ad Manager.
