If you haven’t done so, please follow these SOPs\r\n\r\nSOP 100 ([web version](https://members.clickminded.com/sop/100/)): Set up a new Google Business Profile account\r\n\r\nSOP 101 ([web version](https://members.clickminded.com/sop/101/)): Optimizing Google Business Profile\r\n\r\n[__Click here to get the most up-to-date version of this SOP__](https://members.clickminded.com/sop/159)\r\n\r\n## Environment setup\r\n\r\nIn order to start running Performance Max ads on Google Maps, you must first [link your Google Ads account with your Google Business Profile](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Dam6_5kxBHwYzfH4I80pP9kDzx7MKD87SeXc-noTNxs/edit#heading=h.1ysrp1jhif8o).If you have linked your Google Ads account with your Google Business Profile then you can skip to \"How to run a Performance Max campaign on Google Maps\" section below.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n## Link Google Ads with your Google Business Profile\r\n\r\n### 01▸ Log in to your [Google Ads account extension dashboard](https://ads.google.com/aw/adextensions/summary).\r\n\r\n### 02▸ Under ‘Campaigns’, click ‘Assets’ followed by the '+' button to add a new location asset.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n__Note__: Google ads location is now an asset and is no longer an ad and extension. The ads and extensions would not be visible in the new Google ads dashboard.\r\n\r\n### 03▸ Select 'Location' from the drop down menu.\r\n\r\n\r\n### 04▸ Choose your Google Business Profile as your location.\r\n\r\nSelect 'Link to a Google Profile Manager account I know'.\r\n\r\nSelect the Business Profile Manager account that you’re logged in.\r\n\r\nClick 'Continue'.\r\n\r\n\r\n### 05▸ Click 'Finish'\r\n\r\n\r\n### 06▸ Then, sign in to your [Google Business Profile account dashboard](https://business.google.com/dashboard).\r\n\r\n### 07▸ Click 'Link to ads'\r\n\r\n\r\n### 08▸ Confirm that your Google Ads account is linked to your Google Business Profile.\r\n\r\n\r\n## How to run a Performance Max campaign on Google Maps\r\n\r\n### 01▸ Sign in to your [Google Ads dashboard](https://ads.google.com/aw/campaigns).\r\n\r\n### 02▸ Click the '+' button and create a new campaign.\r\n\r\n\r\n### 03▸ In the new campaign settings, select 'Local store visits and promotions' as campaign objectives.\r\n\r\n\r\n### 04▸ Select ‘Performance Max’ as a campaign type.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n__Note__: Performance Max has replaced Local campaigns. In the new Google Ads campaign settings, Performance Max will be the only campaign type, which brings you the same optimization benefits, including store visits, call clicks, and directions to help you meet your offline goals\r\n\r\n### 05▸ Next, ensure that the Business Profile Manager account is correct before clicking ‘Continue’.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n__Note__: If the option is disabled, that means you haven’t [linked your Google ads account with your Google Business Profile](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Dam6_5kxBHwYzfH4I80pP9kDzx7MKD87SeXc-noTNxs/edit#heading=h.i772ajnr762r).\r\n\r\nIn the next section, fill in the campaign settings details:\r\n\r\n__Campaign Name__ — A name to help you identify the campaign. Follow this SOP 148: Define Naming Conventions for Google Ad Campaigns ([web version](https://members.clickminded.com/sop/148/)).\r\n\r\n__Bidding__ — The only bidding option available for Performance Max is Maximize conversion value. This bidding will maximize the local actions such as store visits or calls, which you can set a target cost per action.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, you can set your Customer Acquisition. By default, the campaign will acquire both existing and new customers. However, if you would like to opt for new customers only, you could tick the box.\r\n\r\n\r\n__Campaign Settings__ — Select the appropriate location and language of your target audience.\r\n\r\n\r\n__Asset group__ — Performance Max assets are creative elements like text, images, or videos used in your campaign.\r\n\r\nName your asset group.\r\n\r\nInclude all the creative elements and preview.\r\n\r\n\r\n__Asset Group name__ — Add a name for this ad group.\r\n\r\n__Final URL__ — The URL of your website. Make sure the URL is correct and loads as intended.\r\n\r\n__Display path__ — Customize the URL being shown in the ad.\r\n\r\n__*Note*__*: This doesn’t have to be an actual URL.*\r\n\r\n__Headlines__ — Write headlines within 30 characters. You can write up to 5 headlines.\r\n\r\n__*Note*__*: All your headlines won’t show at the same time, rather, Google will rotate your headlines based on the user’s device or search query.*\r\n\r\n__Description__ — Write a description within 90 characters. You can write up to 5 descriptions.\r\n\r\n__Call to action text__ — Copy to prompt customers to take action.
